I celebrate my first anniversary in the wordpress plugins team

Seeing my buddy Fran Torres, I realized that I also turned one year old on May 5, 2023 in the Official WordPress Plugins Team. And I’d like to look back on what this year of revisions has been like as well. And it seems like yesterday when I started on the Plugin team and received the invitation email from Alvaro.

In this time, I have managed to send 3,195 mails, almost most of them with code reports, more than 600 approved and being especially from the year 2024, when Hostinger will sponsor my time within the Five for the Future program, together with Paco Marchante, and will fix in the calendar some fixed weekly hours for this task.

Within the team many, many things are done, mostly:

    • Review code, and how the plugins that want to appear in the official directory work.
    • Review plugins interface, to make sure that they comply with the community guidelines.
    • Propose improvements to the team’s internal tool for better detection of security issues.
    • Propose improvements to the team’s internal tool for better detection of security issues.
    • Propose improvements to the public tool, Plugin Check Plugin, available to developers that improves auto-detection.
    • Participate in events for a better understanding of development and help Developers improve their programming.

The revision that cost me the most was one that took me the maximum of 14 emails, because it was a strange interface and we had to help me change it to comply with the directives.

It’s certainly been an exciting year, with a lot of work but satisfaction from the work I’m doing.

    It’s been an exciting year.

I hope to have a few more years in this team!
